The results normally include a list of web pages with titles, a link to the page, and a short description showing where the keywords have matched content within the page. Some of the major search engines also provide a link to their own cached version of the page, which they store locally on their own servers for reference. A SERP may refer to a single page of links returned, or to the set of all links returned for a search query. Read the rest »

Search Engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. Read the rest »

The most public, visible form of a Search Engine is a Web Search Engine which searches for information on the World Wide Web. Examples of popular search engines would be Google, Yahoo, Microsoft’s Live, AOL and Ask. Read the rest »
